Financial Services Director, City of High Point

  • City of High Point seeks qualified person to fill the position of Financial Services Director.  The Finance Director oversees, directs, and participates in all activities of the Finance Department, including short- and long-term planning, development, and administration of departmental policies, procedures, and service; provides assistance to the City Manager/Deputy City Manager in a variety of administrative, coordinative, and analytical, capacities.  Successful performance of the work requires knowledge of public policy, municipal functions and activities, including the role of an elected City Council, and the ability to develop, oversee, and implement projects and programs in a variety of areas. 


    Work is performed under the general supervision of the Deputy City Manager. Exercises general direction and supervision over professional, technical, and administrative support staff through subordinate levels of supervision.


    Qualifications

    Formal Education:


    Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, public administration, or a related field and seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience, including supervisory experience, preferably in municipal administration or in a finance office and at least four (4) years of government finance experience.


    Certifications (at least one of the below is required):


    • NC Certified Local Government Finance Officer or



    • Certified Public Finance Officer or



    • NC CPA


    Valid North Carolina Driver’s License

    Preferred Qualifications



    • Master’s Degree in Public Administration

    • North Carolina governmental accounting experience


    Salary range from $120,000+ annually Depending upon Qualification along with an excellent benefits package.
