Sampson County is seeking an experienced Finance Professional to serve as our next Finance Director. This position is a key member of the leadership team responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the County’s financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to ethical practices and a proactive approach to leveraging technology for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness, work collaboratively with staff and stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement in fiscal responsibility, optimize processes, and enhance service delivery.

Expected competencies include extensive knowledge and application of NC General Statutes, the principles and practices of General Fund and Local Government Accounting, budget development, revenue forecasting, and long-range planning to build and maintain the County’s financial position.

Desired qualifications: Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or Business Administration along with CPA certification or certification as a NC Local Government Finance Officer, and six plus years of progressively responsible experience in public finance administration. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
